Home, warmth, and togetherness-that's the heart of the holiday season. As you come together with loved ones to celebrate, it's important to stay mindful of the unique safety considerations that come with this time of year.
- Tree & Lighting Safety: Sparkle Without the Sparks
- Water your live tree daily. A dry tree can ignite in seconds and burn intensely destroying everything with flame and smoke.
- Keep trees at least 3 feet from heat sources like fireplaces, radiators, and candles.
- Inspect light strands before use. Toss any with frayed wires or broken bulbs and ONLY use LED light strands.
- Don't overload outlets. Use power strips with surge protection and follow instructions on how many strands to connect.

- Use flameless candles whenever possible-they look festive and eliminate open flames.

- Stay in the kitchen while cooking-especially when frying, grilling, or broiling.
- Keep flammable items like towels, grocery bags, and paper plates away from the stove.
- Keep kids at least three feet away from hot appliances and food prep areas.
- Watch the turkey fryer: If you're using one, keep it outdoors, far away from structures.
- Stay in the kitchen while cooking-especially when frying, grilling, or broiling.
