Fire Safety: Prevent Fires Before They Start
Never leave cooking unattended-stay in the kitchen when using the stove
Keep flammable items (paper, towels, curtains) away from heat sources
Do not smoke indoors - Follow building rules on smoking and open flames
Do not overload electrical outlets or use damaged cords
Do not tamper with smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors -they are there to save lives!

General Safety Awareness
Lock doors and windows to protect yourself and your neighbors
Do not let unknown individuals into secured buildings or areas
Keep exits, hallways, and stairways clear at all times for quick exit and to prevent slips and falls
Let your Housing Authority know about hazards like broken steps, loose railings, or exposed wires
Report suspicious activity or unsafe behavior
Keep children supervised in common areas and near parking lots

Emergency Preparedness
Know your building's emergency exits and evacuation routes -you may need to help others
Keep important phone numbers easily accessible
Maintain a small emergency kit (flashlight, water, medications)
