Make a Difference Together: August 10th - 16th OSHA Safe + Sound Week

August 10th - 16th is OSHA's "Safe + Sound" Week.

What better way to have some fun at work and come together and show how much you care than by participating in OSHA's Safe + Sound Week.

Set the Daily Tone
Management sets the tone for an organization's safety culture. As an Executive Director, your ultimate responsibility is the safety of your staff and residents. Your active leadership and commitment is essential to develop a strong workplace safety culture. When you show that you care and how important everyone's health and safety is, your team will follow.

By fostering a culture of care and proactive engagement, you are the initiator of purposeful safety.

Facilitate Invested Staff
When employees are actively involved in identifying risks and helping shape solutions, safety programs become more effective-and more meaningful. For participation to truly work, employees must feel comfortable speaking up and trust management to remove roadblocks to solutions. That means creating an environment where concerns can be raised without fear of blame or retaliation. When trust is in place, reporting improves, hazards are addressed sooner, and incidents are more likely to be prevented.

Time to Take Action
Safety is not built on observation alone; it is built on action.
In every property, there are small issues that can easily be overlooked or seem minor, but they are often the starting point of larger incidents. Encourage your teams to take a proactive, hands-on approach and:

  • Walk your sites with purpose - look closely, not quickly
  • Identify hazards, no matter how small
  • Address issues immediately when possible
  • Report and track items that require follow-up
  • Recheck previously flagged concerns to ensure resolution
  • Take ownership - if you see it, you own it

The goal is simple: don't walk past a problem. Show up each day to make a difference and show those around you that you care.
